SPMS, EPE hosted, at its premises in Lisbon, a delegation of Members of the European Parliament for a presentation session of the Electronic Vaccination System. Constituted by members of five nationalities from the Regional Development Committee, the delegation learned about the benefits for citizens, health professionals, service providers and the National Health Service in general.
During the session, the evolution of the vaccination record in Portugal was presented, highlighting the benefits of the Vaccination System, which allows greater mobility and better accessibility to information on vaccines, future doses and management, without risks of information loss. SPMS also highlighted the fact that each citizen can consult their vaccination history, anytime, anywhere, through the Electronic Health Record – Área do Cidadão (Citizen’s Area) and the MySNS Carteira app.
At the end of the session, members of the European Commission left some questions related to cybersecurity, information security and health data, and in response, SPMS professionals presented the security measures and encryption levels implemented in both the Citizen’s Area, as in the MySNS apps.
Integrated into the Simplex + Digital Health Initiatives, the Electronic Vaccination System simplified processes, reduced costs, improved the quality of information and increased the proximity of the National Health Service to the citizen, boosting health gains. As the entity responsible for the digital transformation in health, SPMS carried out the process of dematerialization of the Vaccination System through the VACINAS system.
Funded by the European Commission, the Electronic Vaccination System initiative was presented to the committee of MEPs who, during a three-day trip to Lisbon, got to know other Portuguese projects.
